This class will cover quilt and jacket sewing basics:

- Assembling quilt blocks (to be used as part of the jacket)
- Setting in sleeves
- Binding

Students in this class will be constructing a quilted jacket using an oversized sweatshirt as the base and pattern.

Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate
6 - 8 hours (spread out over 2 days)
**Note that there may be some work to do between the classes in order to complete the project by the end of the second day.

Student Materials Needed:

3 yards of assorted fabrics **
1⁄4 yard of binding fabric **
2.5 yards of lining (optional)  **
Sweatshirt (should be several sizes larger or oversized) - Note that it does not have to be a new sweatshirt (This is a great way to upcycle a sweatshirt you already have!). The sweatshirt should be prewashed prior to the class. Neutral colors work best or a color that won’t show through your background fabric.
- Basic sewing supplies (e.g., rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler, sewing machine, thread)

**ALL FABRIC NEEDED IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THIS CLASS. PLEASE COME IN PRIOR TO CLASS TO CHOOSE YOUR FABRICS.  THERE WILL NOT BE TIME TO DO THIS ON THE DAY OF CLASS.  THE LINING IS LISTED AS OPTIONAL, WE SUGGEST CHOOSING SOMETHING BASIC SO THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO USE IT ON FUTURE PROJECTS.
** You can also bring orphan blocks from home to use in the construction of your jacket.
